SouthCoast Seeks a EMR Clinical Inbox Specialist






Job Summary:





The EMR Clinical Inbox Specialist is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and safeguarding patient health records while working the clinical inbox in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). This role ensures the accurate, confidential, and accessible handling of medical information to support quality patient care and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.


Qualifications:





Minimum of two (2) years as a Medical Assistant or LPN with clinical experience working in EHR completing clinical inbox tasks effectively and efficiently. Knowledge of medical office workflow practices strongly preferred.



Strong EMR, I.T. and clinical knowledge, excellent analytical, technical, communication, organizational, interpersonal and team skills required.


Responsibilities:




Proficiency in using EMR systems to manage and retrieve patient records.

Ensure the security and integrity of electronic records.

Ensuring that the medical records are organized, accurate and complete.

Regularly review, update, and verify the accuracy of patient records.

Assist in addressing any discrepancies or deficiencies in documentation.

Organize and file medical documents, reports, and correspondence in a systematic manner.

Generate reports on medical record activities, including tracking record volume and turnaround times.

Provide regular updates to management on record management trends and issues.


Willing to make suggestions on workflow or system efficiency and effectiveness.



Serves as liaison and point of contact for several departments.



Consistently works and communicates in a positive and cooperative manner with patients, coworkers, medical staff and management when providing information and services as needed, seeking assistance and clarifying and resolving problems.




Education:




LPN:

Graduate of an accredited school of practical/vocational nursing program.



Or


MA:

High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting training program, Medical Assistant in the military (DD214), or EMT-A or paramedic is required. An exception may be granted to individuals that have not attended an accredited training program but do have (i) a national certification in medical assisting and (ii) a minimum of 2 years of medical assisting experience. Such exception may only occur following (i) a thorough evaluation of the individual's experience; training/education; skills and qualifications, (ii) a determination by the Director of Nursing that such individual has the requisite skills and knowledge to perform as a Medical Assistant and (iii) written approval from two Executive Committee members.
