At ICRI, our Employment Services team helps refugees and immigrants build stable, long-term careers that support independence and a sense of belonging. As an Employment Researcher/Canvasser volunteer, you'll play a direct role in opening doors to opportunity.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a curious, community-minded volunteer to help identify employment opportunities for our clients. In this role, you will research local job openings, explore which businesses are open to hiring newcomers, and share leads with our Employment Specialists. This is a behind-the-scenes position that has a real impact on economic mobility for refugee and immigrant families.

How You'll Help

You may choose one or more of the following tasks based on your interests and skills:

Research local and regional job openings that match client skill sets Identify employers who are open to hiring refugees and immigrants Assist with light outreach, canvassing, and community networking Keep our job lead database updated and well-organized Track hiring trends, workforce needs, and accessible entry-level roles Share your findings regularly with the Employment Services team

Who You Are

A clear and friendly communicator Detail-oriented, organized, and curious Comfortable using job boards, search tools, or spreadsheets Interested in workforce development, HR, labor markets, or community engagement Passionate about helping newcomers find pathways to employment
No prior HR or employment services experience is required; training is provided.

Requirements

Background check for all volunteers Computer and internet access (for remote research) Brief orientation with ICRI staff before starting Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow ICRI volunteer policies
