Positions in King County are eligible for 5% assignment pay in addition to the salary listed above.

We are looking for a dynamic customer focused Employment Development Specialist working within the center. You will support all WorkSource lines of business and ready to serve all WorkSource customers. You will provide direct services to job seekers and employers within the WorkSource Office and represent the agency in providing integrated service delivery to all customers. You will directly support the agencies mission by partnering to connect employers and job seekers. This is a full-time/permanent opportunity with flexible schedule options.

Duties

Your phenomenal computer and communication skills will be relied upon as you explain program participation requirements and complete enrollments. You will be relied upon to communicate clearly and concisely in person, virtually, by telephone and in writing. You will be consistent in addressing customer needs in a timely fashion anticipating their needs and able to gain confidence and trust by ensuring long term needs are met.

More of what you will do:

  • Conducting individual interviews to articulate program services and activities.
  • Manage caseload, providing case management, facilitating appropriate support services.
  • Identifying, evaluating and exploring solutions to assist in removing barriers, assisting in obtaining needed documentation.
  • Determine eligibility and/or appropriateness for program, enrolling and explaining program participation requirements.
  • Developing individual employment service plans, guide customers to effectively use in employment and training programs and services.
  • Monitor WorkSource program performance management activity using agency reporting systems.
  • Create and disseminate program reports as required by supervisors and managers.
  • Respond promptly to e-mails, phone messages, and mail.
  • Participate in meetings in an active, cooperative and courteous manner.
Qualifications

What you bring: Qualified candidates will have one (1) or more of the following experiences and/or education. Such as: Workforce development, customer service, retail, tech support, professional public contact work, unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims.

Option 1: A combination of education and/or relevant experience* totaling no less than seven (7) years.

OR One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 3 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state\'s Employment Security agency.

Education to Experience Equivalences:

Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelor Degree = 4 years | Masters or Higher = 5 years

** A Master\'s degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Additional Requirement of Employment:
  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
  • This position is based in a WorkSource location and has a flexible option of up to 2 days telework and 3 days in office.
