Overview




Lead emergency nursing operations at a 585+ bed Level I Trauma Center in Kansas City, Missouri, recognized for comprehensive stroke, cardiac, burn, and emergency services. This Emergency Room Manager role provides hands-on leadership for the main campus emergency department, reporting to the Interim ED Director. The facility serves as a regional destination for critical care with specialty programs including Chest Pain Center, Primary Stroke Center, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, Women's Care, and orthopedics across multiple Kansas City locations.

Responsibilities



Provide nursing leadership for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care and safety across the main campus emergency department. Collaborate with physicians, administrative leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient and family needs in a Level I Trauma environment. Ensure quality care through initiation and evaluation of patient care utilizing performance improvement processes and evidence-based practices. Manage departmental resources in a fiscally responsible manner including staffing, supply utilization, and budget oversight. Support facility mission, vision, and values while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence. Oversee daily emergency department operations including patient flow, throughput, and coordination with trauma, stroke, and cardiac programs. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and nursing standards to optimize emergency care delivery and regulatory compliance. Build and retain high-performing teams through talent acquisition, coaching, performance management, and professional development. Monitor quality metrics, patient satisfaction scores, and operational benchmarks to identify improvement opportunities. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory standards for emergency services and trauma care. Serve as visible, accessible leader providing guidance and support to nursing staff during high-volume and emergent situations.

Qualifications




Required:

Current Missouri RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Emergency Department management experience BLS (Basic Life Support) certification - American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required upon hire ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification - American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required upon hire ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) OR PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required upon hire TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) OR ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) required within 1 year of hire Strong leadership, communication, and operational management skills Expertise in Level I Trauma operations and emergency care delivery

Preferred:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Specialty certification in emergency nursing (CEN preferred) Experience in high-volume Level I Trauma emergency departments Background in stroke, cardiac, and burn patient care
