Roles & Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks:

\xc2\xb7 Receives emergency calls from dispatcher or Supervisor and promptly, safely responds to assignments.

\xc2\xb7 Ensures the safety of the patient and other pre hospital personnel at all times.

\xc2\xb7 Performs medical histories and performs physical exams as indicated on patients in the field.

\xc2\xb7 Initiates indicated treatment modalities according to written policies and medical control physician orders.

\xc2\xb7 Provides direct patient care from first contact through authorized hand-off at all times.

\xc2\xb7 Remains in-service until properly relieved or released by supervision.

\xc2\xb7 Accompanies the patient to the ED and monitors and treats the patient during transportation.

\xc2\xb7 Transports the patient to the appropriate emergency department and reports orally to the nurse and/or physician.

\xc2\xb7 Writes a comprehensive report documenting the situation at the scene, physical exam, orders received, treatments rendered, response to these treatments, and other information deemed pertinent.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains ambulance logs and submits detailed incident, accident, occurrence reports and statements when required.

\xc2\xb7 Operates the vehicle and equipment in a safe manner at all times. Safeguards all equipment.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains ambulances and other emergency vehicles and equipment in efficient working order, Replaces fuel, makes minor repairs, cleans and restocks the equipment and vehicles to maintain NYSDOH and FDNY regulatory standards. Reports any obvious mechanical malfunctions or deficiencies to the supervisor immediately verbally and/or in writing.

\xc2\xb7 Wears issued uniform and maintains professional appearance while on duty.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains radio contact with FDNY at all times. Remains in assigned CSL when not on assignment.

\xc2\xb7 Complies with department vehicle in-service standards, including turn-out and ED turn-around.

\xc2\xb7 Follows NYSDOH and FDNY Rules, Regulations and Protocols at all times.

\xc2\xb7 Performs heavy and awkward lifting of patients in difficult areas and terrain.

\xc2\xb7 Remains Awake, Alert and Acknowledges Radio and CAD assignments promptly.

Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 Four year high school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of training program as an NYSDOH Emergency Medical Technician, and other protocol update programs as currently required.

\xc2\xb7 1 + years 911 experience preferred

\xc2\xb7 Certification as a NYS EMT

\xc2\xb7 Tri-State issued driver\'s license with infraction free driving abstract.

\xc2\xb7 Emergency Vehicle Operator\'s Course completion desirable

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $28.07 - $33.56 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
