Job Description

Nemours is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.
The Emergency Management Coordinator develops, implements, and reviews emergency operations plans that supports regional facility operations, protects the safety of patients, visitors, and employees, and ensures the facility is compliant with regulatory requirements. The Emergency Management Coordinator demonstrates current knowledge of emergency management practices, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures, and supports the ongoing education of employees, patients, visitors, and community stakeholders. The Emergency Management Coordinator facilitates grant activity, responds to grant requests, manages grant funding preparations, and maintains documentation requirements related to grant funding. The Emergency Management Coordinator facilitates emergency management supply inventory to assure facility readiness.

Essential Functions





Under the strategic and operational direction of the Manager, Emergency Management, co-ordinates the agreed program across the region. Coordinates management of inventory equipment and supplies, including all hospital and location evacuation, decontamination equipment, and supplies stockpiled for emergencies, which requires careful monitoring of expiration dates and coordination with Materials Management to rotate new stock. Works with Manager, Emergency Management and leadership to identify areas for improvement related to emergency preparedness, strategizing corrective plans and developing after-action reports. Coordinates the processes required to complete projects for areas for improvement. Works with personnel throughout Nemours Children's Health to complete the required tasks. Performs and assists with the development of emergency management training to all levels of employees and staff. Develops, writes, and revises emergency plans and documents, including the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA). Represents Nemours Children's Health regional locations with community emergency management partners. Works with Manager, Emergency Management and Nemours regional leadership to promote and integrate Emergency Operations Plans into existing community plans. Coordinates, facilitates, and participates with the Incident Command Team (ICT) during activated emergencies and incidents, both during regular hours and off-hours (on-call). Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by the employee's supervisor.

Knowledge, Formal Education and Training




High School Diploma with AA Degree preferred

License and Certification





Healthcare Emergency Management (HcEM), or Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Other alternative certified Emergency Management qualifications/demonstrated significant experience such as within Emergency Management in US Military


Relevant Experience



Minimum of 1 year Emergency Management experience is required, 3 years preferred
