The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.


POSITION SUMMARY:


The Patient Financial Advocate serves to help all patients--especially those who are uninsured, underinsured, and have low incomes--assess and ultimately resolve their financial situations. Responsible for determining potential sources of funding, this includes establishing payment plans and other financial arrangements, determining patients' eligibility for hospital-sponsored charity care and external financial assistance, and collecting patients' remaining balances. All communications are conducted in a manner that will result in positive patient relations and prompt reimbursement for the hospital's services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree from accredited institution preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

2 to 3 years of related work experience required, preferably in healthcare or customer service environment utilizing the following skills: Experience discussing and resolving financial situations with patients. Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.
