Job Description

Sunstone Montessori School, an AMI Montessori school, is hiring an Elementary Teacher Assistant to work with Elementary children from 9 to 12 years old.

Duties:

Assist the Lead Teacher, Guide, in maintaining an orderly, smoothly functioning environment, so that the Guide can give lessons and oversee the children's work. The ability to work independently as well as with others are two of the many essential functions of this position. Duties include but are not limited to supporting children's independent activity, taking observation notes, supervising lunch and on the playground, and cleaning and maintaining the environment.

Hours & Benefits:

Assistants work a 8 hour shift with two paid 10-minute breaks and an unpaid half-hour lunch between 8:00am-4:00pm. Requirements:

- Passion for working with Elementary-age children

- Compassionate communication style, positive attitude, and calm presence

- Interest in and desire to learn more about the Montessori philosophy

- Very organized with a keen eye for detail

- Eagerness to grow and contribute

- Ability to work as part of a team

- Ability to lift 50 pounds

- (Preferred) At least one year of classroom or group childcare experience with Elementary-age children and/or a degree in Early Childhood Education or child development

Qualifications Needed (obtainable upon hire):

- Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry

- Current CPR/1st Aid, RRCAN, Intro to Health & Safety, Prevention is Better than Treatment, and Food Handlers Card

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
