SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning, Mental Health Coordinator, and Building Administrators, the elementary student support provider will assist in delivering mental health, wellness, and behavioral support programming as a member of a K-5 school team. The ESSP also provides direct mental health and wellness services and case management to students and families and will assist in developing and delivering school-wide mental health, wellness, and behavioral interventions. The ESSP will be considered a member of the school-based teams MTSS team and expected to work collaboratively with all school staff and parents to support the vision and mission of Richland Bean Blossom Schools.





TERMS OF CONTRACT:

This is a GRANT-FUNDED temporary position. Contract is for the remainder of the 25-26 and 26-27 school years only.



EDUCATION/ LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:



Minimum Bachelor's Degree in the Education, Social Work, Guidance Counselor or School Psychology fields Valid Teacher state license/certification or minimum 3+ years experience working with students in a supportive or instructional capacity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned.



Assists in delivering a comprehensive school counseling program to elementary-aged students under the guidance of the Mental Health Coordinator and building Administrators. Provide direct services (school counseling core curriculum, individual and group services, responsive services, manualized mental health interventions, etc. ) and indirect student services (consultation, collaboration, and referrals) to support the mental health of our elementary students. Assist students in achieving school success by implementing age-appropriate mental health-related supports. Work with students to develop critical life skills such as organization, time management, problem-solving, conflict resolution strategies, leadership, and collaboration skills. Provide small group or individual support to help students cope effectively with difficult personal situations. Collaborates with the building level support teams to implement and monitor student behavior plans and safety based on knowledge of restorative practices and proactive behavior de-escalation strategies for students and proactively find ways to integrate these into the classroom with teachers and students. Assist with intervention teams concerning students at risk for academic failure. Communicate and collaborate with parents to ensure student success. Communicate and collaborate with teachers and administrators in the building to help students with MTSS and the implementation of tiered supports. Orient new students to school procedures and the opportunities available for learning. Act with professionalism and confidentiality. Foster positive relationships within the entire school community. Contribute and support district initiatives and programs. Perform other tasks as the Administration assigns.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and analyze, and interpret educational periodicals and professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and administrative procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must speak on demand to large groups. Must be able to transport between school buildings, districts, and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
