who are passionate about helping children learn -- especially those with

reading or learning differences

Position Summary

We're seeking an

Elementary Reading & Math Tutor

to support students in

grades K-5

, including

homeschool learners

and children with diverse learning needs.

The ideal candidate is experienced in early literacy instruction and familiar with

structured, multisensory programs

such as

Orton-Gillingham

or

Wilson Reading

. A background in

Special Education

or working with students who have

dyslexia, ADHD, or IEPs/504s

is strongly preferred.

You'll help students strengthen foundational reading and math skills, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning -- aligned with

West Virginia's College- and Career-Readiness Standards

.

What You'll Teach

Reading & Literacy:

Phonemic awareness, phonics, and decoding strategies Reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development Writing fundamentals, sentence construction, and grammar Implementation of

Orton-Gillingham

,

Wilson Reading

, or similar structured literacy methods Individualized support for students with

learning differences

or those in

homeschool settings

Mathematics:

Core math concepts: number sense, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division Visual and hands-on strategies for conceptual understanding Application of math to real-world problem solving Preparation for

West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA)

in math

Responsibilities

Deliver

individualized, multisensory instruction

tailored to each student's needs Support

homeschool and traditional learners

with personalized academic plans Use data-driven methods to track progress and adjust instruction accordingly

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians

to discuss progress and recommendations Maintain accurate session documentation and reports Foster a

positive, patient, and confidence-building learning environment

Qualifications

Required

Teaching or tutoring experience

with elementary students (grades K-5) Strong understanding of

early literacy and numeracy development

Excellent

communication skills

, professionalism, and dependability Degree or active enrollment in

Education, Literacy, Special Education, or a related field

Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check

Preferred

Training or certification in

Orton-Gillingham

,

Wilson Reading

, or a comparable literacy intervention Experience working with

students who have learning differences, IEPs, or 504 plans

Experience supporting

homeschool students

or designing individualized learning plans Familiarity with

West Virginia's College- and Career-Readiness Standards
