We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Math Paraprofessional to support classroom instruction and student learning in a dynamic educational environment. The ideal candidate will assist teachers in implementing lesson plans, providing individualized support to students, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. This role is essential in helping students develop foundational math skills and succeed academically, particularly those with special needs or disabilities. Prior experience with early childhood education, literacy, and classroom management is highly valued. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with children across various age groups, including preschool and kindergarten, in both private school and daycare settings.
Responsibilities
Assist classroom teachers with lesson planning and curriculum development focused on math and literacy education.
Support students with special needs, including those with autism or other disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations.
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce math concepts and early childhood development skills.
Manage classroom behavior and implement behavior management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
Support classroom management by organizing materials, preparing instructional activities, and maintaining a safe space for children.
Engage children in educational activities that promote social-emotional development, literacy, and numeracy skills.
Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons for diverse learners and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
Assist with childcare duties during classroom activities, including toddler care and Montessori-based learning approaches when applicable.
Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support student progress and address behavioral or learning challenges.
Requirements
Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or daycare environments.
Knowledge of special education practices, behavior management techniques, and working with students with autism or disabilities.
Familiarity with curriculum development for early childhood education, literacy, and math instruction.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, students, and families.
Classroom experience demonstrating the ability to manage behavior and foster a supportive learning environment.
Background in early childhood education theories such as Montessori or preschool methodologies is preferred.
Ability to adapt instructional strategies for diverse learners and implement lesson plans effectively.
