Examples of Work

The Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the Automated Traffic Recording (ATR) sites across the state, as well as collection of Weigh-In-Motion and radar based portable count data. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Install and maintain automated traffic counting sites statewide.
  • Collect Weigh-In-Motion data in the eastern half of the state annually.
  • Collect portable count data as required using radar.
  • Collect data for "specials" as required.
  • Maintain and repair count equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of count equipment and consumables.
  • Process procurement transactions.
  • Process and submit expense reports.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
Electronics Technician: Post high school coursework, training, or experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of radios, electronic devices/instruments, computer equipment, or other similar hardware and circuitry.

Electronics Technician/Senior: Two-year vocational degree in electronics, electricity, or other similar technologies and experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic devices/instruments, computer equipment, or related automated/electrical circuitry and hardware. Additional years of experience in the work described may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED: Electronic repair experience. Experience in the use of large power tools such as a concrete saw and extensive experience using hand power tools. Experience using MS Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as working in an IT networked environment.

OTHER: Must have a valid driver\'s license or be able to provide authorized independent transportation. Overnight travel is required. Regular and reliable attendance is also required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
