Position: Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer



Position Summary


We are seeking a skilled and proactive

Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

to support electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems at our industrial chemical manufacturing facility. This hands-on role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of plant-wide electrical distribution and control systems. The E&I Engineer is critical to ensuring safety compliance, enhancing equipment reliability, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

role with no supervisory responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities



Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution and control systems (up to 480V). Diagnose and service motors, switches, relays, sensors, VFDs, and PLCs. Program and troubleshoot PLCs (ladder logic and function block) and interface with HMIs. Maintain and calibrate instrumentation used in automated process control systems. Work with AC/DC drives, control panels, and electronic circuit boards. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation. Ensure all work adheres to NEC, arc flash standards, and site safety procedures. Survey equipment and systems; specify, procure, and install automation and control components. Participate in or lead small capital projects and maintenance improvement initiatives. Document work activities and track maintenance using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other plant equipment as required.

Qualifications



Education & Experience



Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, or Industrial Maintenance preferred. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on E&I experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, or 10+ years of progressive electrical maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

Technical Skills



Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens). Strong knowledge of control systems, VFDs, and AC/DC motor applications. Familiarity with valve automation and instrumentation systems. Skilled in interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings. Solid understanding of three-phase power, DC systems, and industrial power distribution. Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with CMMS platforms preferred.

Additional Requirements



Strong analytical and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across teams. Willingness and ability to train or mentor others. Ability to work in physically demanding environments (lifting, climbing, tight spaces). Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency call-ins.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
