JOB DETAIL FOR ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR (Traction Power/Substation)
SCE is seeking an Electrical Inspector with experience in railroad traction power and substation construction to join our construction management team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of electrical systems on railroad projects, particularly in traction power and substation installations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Conduct comprehensive inspections of traction power systems, substations, overhead catenary system, and associated electrical equipment on railroad construction projects.
? Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations governing railroad electrification, including AREMA, FRA, and industry best practices.
? Review design drawings, specifications, and plans for traction power and substation installations to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
? Perform on-site inspections of electrical components, wiring, switchgear, transformers, and other equipment to assess quality, functionality, and safety.
? Identify and document deviations from design plans or code requirements and collaborate with contractors to address and resolve issues in a timely manner.
? Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and railroad authorities to facilitate inspections, approvals, and commissioning of electrical systems.
? Provide technical guidance and support to project teams regarding traction power and substation construction methods, materials, and procedures.
? Maintain detailed inspection records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company policies and project specifications.
? Conduct final inspections and acceptance testing of traction power systems and substations prior to commissioning and operation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
? Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical substation inspection, with preferred experience in railroad traction power, OCS construction.
? Familiarity with relevant codes and standards , such as AREMA C&S Manual, NEC, IEEE, and NESC.
? Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
? Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic construction environment.
? Must have valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar credential is highly desirable.
? Experience on Rail & Transit projects
? Familiarity with Overhead Catenary System (OCS) construction
? Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $156,000.00 per year
