Commercial Electrician Apprentices learn the trade by supporting the Journeyman Electrician in constructing, maintaining, operating, and repairing electrical systems.
Commercial Electrician Apprentices typically work in large facilities, construction sites, and on equipment such as lighting systems, power distribution, cables, switchgear, etc. They work under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician as a trainee and assistant to gain knowledge and hands-on experience. It takes approximately 4 years (8,000 hours) to be eligible to take the Oklahoma Unlimited Electrical Journeyman exam and, upon passing obtain an Unlimited Journeyman License.

Must be 18 years of age, have a Valid Driver's License, and reliable transportation to get to job sites within the OKC metro and surrounding areas.
Apprentice Electricians are not required to hold any degree or attend any vocational school.
Must have basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc.
Must be able to lift and support weights of 50 pounds or more.
Must be able to manipulate and use hand and power tools.
Must be able to work from ladders, lifts, or raised surfaces safely.
Must be able to reach overhead and work for prolonged periods.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
