Job Description


GENERAL PURPOSE:

Election Workers assist the City Clerk\'s Department in serving City of Loveland voters. Assistance may include verification of petition signatures, as well as all other duties/responsibilities needed to conduct a municipal election, prior to, during and after the election process.

The salary range for this position is $13.00- $22.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position will remain open until filled.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Data entry requiring a high level of speed and accuracy.

Answer phone calls and customer inquiries regarding the election process and voter information.

Assist voters at Healthcare Facilities throughout Loveland by delivering ballots, assisting with voting ballots, and collecting voted ballots.

Drive to collect ballots from remote ballot boxes around Loveland, unload ballot boxes, collect mailed ballots from the Post Office and returning the ballots to the processing center.

Greet, direct and assist voters and monitor ballot boxes.

Sort ballots into trays, provide date and location coding and prepare ballots for signature verification.

Verify signatures on petitions and ballots.

Operate signature verification equipment, complete logs and maintain documentation and transport ballots to the next processing station.

Research ballots rejected during signature verification to determine cause, including accessing the Secretary of State database to view additional signatures for comparison purposes.

Prepare and scan verified ballots.

Sends problem ballots to staff for processing.

Participate on teams that open ballots and prepare them for tabulation

Accuratly handle and count ballots, either by hand or through the use of tabulation equipment, in timely manner.

Assemble and fill boxes for storage of ballots.

Complete documentation regarding contents of each box.

Log information and keep accurate records.

Review ballots identified by tabulation software for voter intent and make decisions accordingly.

Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

General office practices and procedures

Working knowledge of computers, keyboards and general office equipment

Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and databases

Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing

Read and comprehend department and City rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures

Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with other City employees, election workers, representatives of other agencies and organizations and the public

Work flexible hours including some evenings, weekends and holidays. Working on election day is required.

Comprehend and accurately complete appropriate election paperwork, reports and logs legibly with accuracy and attention to detail

Handle stressful situations with tact

Education and/experience

United States Citizenship and registered to vote in Colorado required

No convictions of election fraud, any other election offenses, or fraud, not a candidate or related to a candidate on the ballot or petition, anyone working as part of a candidate, political issue, or small-scale issue committee that is participating in this election.

Licensure and/or certifications:

Must possess a valid driver\'s license

Material and equipment directly used:

Office equipment; computers, scanners, tabulation equipment.

Working conditions and physical requirements:

Regularly required to sit, talk and hear. Hand dexterity with frequent use of hands and fingers, with repetitive motion. Occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Working outside is required for Ballot Transfer Team members and for election workers who are staffing ballot box locations on election day. Monitored by GPS when driving. Perform repetitive motion
