Job Description


SUMMARY The incumbent provides home based assistance to elder beneficiaries and family caregivers.
JOB DUTIES

  • Perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) services, including but not limited to light housekeeping duties, including but not limited to: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing dishes, grooming, meal preparation, and laundry services; promotion, encouragement, and/or assistance with maintaining physical activity and socialization.
  • Assist with maintaining their independence in a safe and healthy environment, to ensure clients are able to remain in their home within the CRNA Service Area and facilitate their well-being.
  • Make referrals and assist with paperwork as needed to other departments/businesses for other services.
  • Teach and/or suggest healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Communicate with clients in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to appropriate supervisor upon discovery.
  • Contact CHA(s) with any changes to client?s health status and refer to department procedures for urgent and emergent health issues.
  • Submit a monthly patient/client encounter report with daily chores logs to the Homemaker Services Supervisor by the first of each month.
  • Recommend changes, alternatives, and ideas related to program processes to help the department meet the needs of the organization and its clients.
  • Attending staff meetings, training, and in-service meetings.
  • Under CHA guidance, performs delegated procedures common to the area in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Assist practitioner in identified patient procedures/treatments/examinations, (preparation, positioning, supplies, equipment).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledgeable with a strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.
  • Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
  • Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters.
  • Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of experience related to above skills.
  • Complete customer service training within one year of employment.
  • Complete Patient Care Attendant (PCA) certification within one year of employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within ninety (90) days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of experience related to above skills.
  • Valid Alaska Driver?s License, with satisfactory driving history to qualify for company insurance.
  • Current PCA certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The work is generally performed in clients? homes, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying/lifting of items weighing up to 150 lbs., with use of transfer equipment with assistance. The majority of work is performed out in the field with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. May require use of household products/chemicals. Will require local travel between CRNA and clients? homes, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. CRNA is a smoke free and tobacco free campus. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where/when needed.
SPECIFICATIONS Supervision Received: Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.
Supervision Exercised: Position will not exercise supervision.
Contacts: Contacts include and not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies. CONDITIONS OF HIRE

  • CRNA is a non-tolerance workplace. All employees must pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screening to be eligible for and maintain employment.
  • CRNA has several positions that require a criminal background check for the safety of our clients. All employment offers in the ?covered? classification are conditional until CRNA has received a federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs.
  • First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.
  • Annual TB screens for required positions.
