About the Einaudi Center for International Studies One of the country\xe2\x80\x99s premier international studies centers, the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies (Einaudi Center) is Cornell\xe2\x80\x99s crossroads for research, teaching, and learning about the world. Through area studies and thematic programs, we strive to foster deep understanding and new knowledge of current events, histories, cultures, and languages of the world. We support campus-wide multidisciplinary initiatives and forge transnational collaborations.
The Opportunity
The Einaudi Center is seeking a receptionist that will work independently to provide a full range
of administrative and office support for the Center. This is a customer service focused position and as such, this person must welcome guests and make sure their needs are met, directing them as
necessary and according to office protocol. Additionally, you will:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Einaudi Center for International Studies.
  • Fields queries; provide information related to the Einaudi Center, various international programs, and student opportunities such as internships, research fellowships, travel grants and the Fulbright programs.
  • Be responsible for training part-time temporary and student staff who support the reception function.
  • Provide administrative support for the core staff of the Center, under direction
    of the Office Manager.
  • Assist with complex arrangements for public presentations, events, meetings, and
    conferences for various areas of the Center as directed by the Office Manager.
  • Step in to cover administrative assistant staff absences across the Center, as needed.
This is a part-time (20 hours/week, 2-year term) endowed position that is completely on-site in Ithaca, NY. Typical work hours are 8:30 am-1:00 pm Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to occasionally adjust and add hours.
What We Need
We are looking for a customer-service oriented team member who is highly organized, has attention to detail, and can create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. Additionally, you will:
  • Have completed formal training beyond a High school diploma of 6 months - 1 year, with a minimum of two to four years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have the aptitude to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
  • Prioritize and successfully perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-based environment through collaboration with a variety of constituents is necessary.
  • Display proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Safely lift 20 to 40 pounds.

  • Proficiency in using a graphics design program such as InDesign.
