Job Description

Summary:


Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager develops and implements programs to ensure workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee well-being by creating and enforcing safety policies, training staff, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, oversees the workers' compensation process to cost control, and manage regulatory requirements for entities like the OSHA and other Federal, State and Local agencies. Key responsibilities include hazard identification, risk management, incident response, coordinate claims with insurance, and foster a strong safety culture.

Role and Responsibilities:


Develop and Implement Programs: Create, update, and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment. Hazard Identification and Risk Management: Analyze and identify workplace hazards (physical, chemical, ergonomic, biological) and implement corrective actions to improve existing conditions. Training and Education: Provide training to employees on safety procedures, regulations and best practices. Workers Compensation Responsibilities: Administer the workers' compensation program, coordinating the filing of new claims and managing ongoing claims with insurance and legal departments. Maintain communication with injured employees, ensuring they receive proper treatment. Coordinate return to work for injured employees, including light-duty assignments. Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular inspections and audits to monitor workplace conditions, ensure compliance with EHS regulations, and identify areas for improvement. Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and local EHS regulations, and ensure the Company adherence to them. Environmental Management: Monitor workplace environments, ensuring compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. Budget and Reporting: Track and manage budgets for EHS projects and prepare reports, incident reports, and safety manuals. Emergency Response: Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field is required. Professional certifications are a plus Significant experience in EHS Management in a manufacturing or industrial setting is necessary In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations from bodies like OSHA, and other Federal, State and Local Agencies Strong ability to analyze EHS data, identify trends and evaluate risk Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with employees, management and regulatory bodies * Ability to lead EHS department, champion safety initiatives, and drive positive change
