GRAVES COUNTY SCHOOLS CLASSIFICATION PLAN
CLASS TITLE: Educational Interpreter I
BASIC FUNCTION:
Travel throughout the district/county to each one of our district schools with Migrant students to provide supplemental tutoring. Relay progress and any issues related to each one of the students identified in our program to the program coordinator/advocate. Report any advocacy needs expressed by student or school staff to program coordinator to begin appropriate steps to resolve those issues.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Ensure compliance with all Federal and State directives by participating in training by regional and state staff.
Become familiar with district curriculum and testing.
Drive District vehicle or personal car to conduct work as assigned.
Provide supplemental tutoring to all Migrant students identified in our district schools.
Network with district schools in order to provide the most adequate supplemental service to our students.
Become familiar with each students teacher, schedule and academic needs.
Establish connections with people and groups who may provide additional services to our students in order to develop a complete realm of service.
Maintain an ongoing relationship with district staff and teachers.
Create and participate in local and regional summer camps for migrant students, families and out of school youth.
Present paperwork such as; time sheet, time and effort logs.
Other duties as assigned by the district's Coordinator.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Knowledge and fluency in the Spanish language preferred.
District curriculum and testing.
Familiarity with Migrant Education Program.
Knowledge of migrant lifestyles and habits.
Oral and written communication skills.
Record-keeping techniques.
Knowledge of agricultural work, including crop cycles.
Skilled at motivating students in program.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
ABILITY TO:
Drive a District vehicle or personal car to conduct work as assigned.
Communication effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Work independently with little direction.
Work early mornings.
Computer skills.
Plan and organize work.
Maintain records.
Work confidentially with discretion.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or GED.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Kentucky driver's license.
