Job Title: Educational Diagnostician

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Group: C0-21 (Based on Experience)

Primary Purpose: Participate in the evaluation, determination of eligibility, planning, and implementation of special education programs.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Experience:

Master\'s degree from an accredited college or university.

State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Educational Diagnostician certificate.

State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Teacher certification.

This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories.

Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ability to organize and maintain accurate records.

Ability to operate a computer.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Receive student referrals and implement the assissment and evaluation process with state mandated timeframes.

2. Select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations.

3. Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student\'s cumulative folder, classroom teacher(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resources.

4. Conduct classroom observation and personal interviews.

5. Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.

6. Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP.

7. Consult with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.

8. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enrich work with students.

9. Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with staff.

10. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with teachers and supervisors.

11. Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.

12. Assist the principal and the Administrator of Special Education in the evaluation of the assessment program and overall special education needs of the assigned campuses.

13. Provide staff development training in assigned campuses to assist staff with identification and understanding of students with learning disabilities and/or emotional, social, or behavioral disturbances.

14. Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other miscellaneous documents.

15. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and planning for special education services.

16. Comply with all procedures and regulations of the district, region, and campus.

17. Prepare and/or corrdinate eligibility reports needed to support the educational program.

18. Effectively communicaate with colleagues, students, and parents.

19. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignments.

20. Demonstrate progress in meeting student performance targets of the district.

21. Demonstrate progress in meeting assigned action plans of the district or campus improvement plans.

22. Perform other duties as assigned.

23. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties.

24. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.

25. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.

26. Execute duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247, Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Environmental Demands:

Regular districtwide travel to multiple work locations as assigned. Work inside and outside, noise, radiant/electrical energy, work alone, work with others, around machines with moving parts and objects, possible exposure to microwaves in use, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
