The Education Coordinator is responsible for supporting the educational quality and curriculum implementation across all classrooms at Wildflower Nature School. This position ensures that lesson plans align with the school's nature-based philosophy and developmental goals, supports teachers in planning and assessment, and promotes ongoing professional growth among staff. The Education Coordinator also manages quality improvement initiatives, including accreditation standards, classroom assessments, and continuous program evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
Develop and implement a curriculum that supports the school's nature-based philosophy and meets the cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and creative development goals of each age group.
Collaborate with teachers to create lesson plans that reflect the emergent curriculum and ensure access to appropriate materials and resources.
Monitor classroom implementation of curriculum through regular observations and feedback.
Review teacher documentation, observations, and lesson reflections; provide constructive guidance for improvement.
Support teachers in developing methods to share curriculum and learning experiences with families.
Teacher Coaching and Professional Development
Spend regular time in classrooms to provide coaching, model instructional strategies, and support teachers in curriculum delivery and classroom management.
Identify professional development opportunities for staff based on individual growth plans and school-wide goals.
Organize and/or facilitate trainings, workshops, and reflective practice meetings to strengthen teaching quality and alignment with WNS's educational approach.
Maintain a personal professional development plan and stay current on best practices and research in early childhood and nature-based education.
Program Quality and Compliance
Support the implementation of the school's quality improvement activities, including NAEYC accreditation and Colorado School Readiness standards.
Participate in the evaluation and documentation of child outcomes and program effectiveness.
Ensure educational practices align with Colorado Department of Human Services Rules and Regulations, Head Start requirements (as applicable), and health and safety standards.
Assist with maintaining the inventory of classroom and curriculum materials and support the coordination of supply ordering.
Collaborate with the administrative team to ensure alignment between educational goals, family engagement, and program operations.
Community and Family Engagement
Support teachers in preparing and sharing assessment information with families.
Participate in or coordinate family education events and community partnerships that promote environmental and early childhood education.
Support teachers to submittals of child referrals
Schedule, coordinate, and (if needed) facilitate parent teacher conferences.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in early childhood education with demonstrated curriculum development or teacher coaching responsibilities.
Knowledge of Colorado licensing standards, early learning guidelines, and NAEYC accreditation preferred.
Strong understanding of child development, emergent curriculum, and nature-based learning approaches.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. They may also be required to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
