We provide expertise across a full range of products and services in industries ranging from technology, industrial, energy, consumer and healthcare. Position: Economist Role: Conduct analysis of the US economy to help Salomon Brothers and its clients understand the economy and so as to better prepare to achieve their financial objectives. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in economics who can join us in producing innovative research and analysis of the key issues facing the US economy. As an Economist within the Research team , you will conduct research aimed at understanding macroeconomic trends and developments and forecasting of growth, inflation, labor markets, and central bank policy. Our research is used by business units inside Salomon Brothers, our clients and the media. Responsibilities

• Produce economic research (typically in the form of written reports, but also video)
• Analyze and report on the monthly and quarterly economic data flow
• Contribute to our weekly summary of economic developments
• Meet regularly with professionals within Salmon Brothers as well as clients

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate economic concepts clearly
• At least two years of experience analyzing US economic data
• Knowledge of econometric software
• A post-graduate degree in economics and strong math skills, PhD is strongly preferred
• Ability to analyze data and present conclusions concisely
• Demonstrated interest in business and financial markets research
• Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail in work product
• A resourceful self-starter, able to work autonomously and as team player
• Ability to start by 8:00am each day
• Speak English fluently.
