About this Position:
This position functions as an agriculture and rural development analyst responsible for meeting with business representatives, community officials, food and agriculture industry representatives, state and federal agencies, and other partners, to assist in identifying regional needs to meet community growth and development goals for a specific geographic region.

THIS POSITION IS BEING FILLED AS A LIMITED-TERM ASSIGNMENT (UP TO 2 YEARS) WITH THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME PERMANENT. THIS POSITION WILL HAVE A HOME WORKSTATION. POSITION WILL SERVICE THE SOUTHCENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN REGION 9 AND REGION 10 COUNTIES (EXCLUDING MACOMB COUNTY): HILLSDALE COUNTY, LENAWEE COUNTY, MONROE COUNTY, JACKSON COUNTY, WASHTENAW COUNTY, WAYNE COUNTY, LIVINGSTON COUNTY, AND OAKLAND COUNTY.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is comprised of four bureaus that use a customer-driven, solution-oriented approach to cultivate and expand new economic opportunities for the food and agricultural sector; safeguard the public's food supply; inspect and enforce sound animal health practices; control and eradicate plant pests and diseases threatening the $125.8 billion food and agriculture system; preserve the environment by which the farming community makes their living and feeds consumers; and protect consumers by enforcing laws relating to weights and measures.

Economic/Community Development Analyst 10
One year of professional experience in commercial financial analysis, marketing, international marketing, workforce development, or public, private economic, or community development equivalent to an Economic/Community Development Analyst 9; or, involving the creation, financing, and operation of a business or providing information and services to business executives or communities in such areas as financing options and packaging, research and analysis on community and economic or workforce development issues, professional tax and/or credit analysis, unemployment and workers compensation analysis, evaluating loan or grant applications, developing and implementing programs to identify foreign markets for export of Michigan products.
Economic/Community Development Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience in commercial financial analysis, marketing, international marketing, workforce development; or public or private economic or community development equivalent to an Economic/Community Development Analyst, including one year equivalent to an Economic/Community Development Analyst 10; or, involving the creation, financing, and operation of a business or providing information and services to business executives or communities in such areas as financing options and packaging, research and analysis on community and economic or workforce development issues, professional tax and/or credit analysis, unemployment and workers compensation analysis, evaluating loan or grant applications, developing and implementing programs to identify foreign markets for export of Michigan products.
Education and Experience for Economic/Community Development Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (FOR CLASSIFIED STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY)
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.
OR Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
OR One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate's degree or two years of college.
Educational Substitution
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.
Alternate Education and Experience

Economic/Community Development Analyst 9 - P11
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
