The City of Detroit Lakes is seeking a dynamic Economic Development Director to lead efforts that drive business growth, attract investment, and expand housing and workforce opportunities. Reporting to the City Administrator/Public Utilities General Manager, this position plays a key role in advancing the city's economic vision.
Overview: The Economic Development Director serves as the primary liaison between the City, developers, and community partners, managing development projects, negotiating financial assistance packages, and overseeing TIF, loan, and grant programs. Additional responsibilities include conducting market analyses, preparing development agreements, writing and administering grants, and promoting Detroit Lakes as a progressive, business-friendly community.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in public administration, economics, business, or a related field, plus at least three years of experience in economic or community development. Must demonstrate strong communication, financial, and project management skills.
