Cross County High School is seeking applicants for an EAST lab facilitator/teacher. 1. An EAST Facilitator should be comfortable in a student-centered, project-based environment. While the EAST classroom is rich in technology, the facilitator does not have to possess knowledge of how to use the technology but should be able to recognize its potential in relation to the development of projects.

2. The EAST Facilitator should create an atmosphere that encourages students to gain insight into their own abilities, thereby promoting the students intellectual development in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a real-world context. 3. The facilitator shall serve as a resource to help the students solve problems without solving the problems for them, guiding them toward self-direction, as well as encouraging community collaboration throughout project development.

He/she will guide decision making in a manner which sustains the learning environment and should ensure all projects are consistent with the EAST principles and best practices.4. The facilitator should be able to guide and assist students in obtaining resources, such as grants and professional partnerships. He/she should also strive toward continually building community relationships to further the goals of the local EAST program. 5.

Other responsibilities should include overnight trips (depending on location) dedicated to professional development, student training, and events during contract and non-contract time. 6. The facilitator should pledge their time, talents, and professional honor to these pursuits, secure in the knowledge that their success will mean the long-term success of their school, community, and most importantly, their students.
