PORTLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS POSITION POSTING
POSITION: Early Childhood Director LOCATION: Portland Public Schools
Portland Public Schools? seeks a passionate and innovative leader to grow our preschool programs. The Director will grow the programs to build the foundation for the start of each child?s educational experience. The Early Childhood Director oversees daily operations of the early childhood programs which include the tuition based Little Raiders Preschool, Before and After School Latchkey, Summer School and provide support for Early Childhood Special Education and GSRP. Responsibilities include administrative duties and management of assigned programs, grant management, and child care license administration. The Director ensures compliance with all relevant program standards and high-quality early childhood development services. The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:

• Exceptional ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on results
• Strong leadership and the ability to make decisions
• Ability to develop, build, and implement new programs
• High level of discretion and integrity
• Possess the necessary technology skills to create materials to support staff and families
• Experience with supervising staff, including completion of performance evaluations and staff development plans
  

Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor? degree or higher in early childhood education or related fields
• A high level of confidentiality and commitment to the district and community
• Knowledge of Head Start and Great Start Readiness Program regulations
• Knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations
• Knowledge of Michigan?s Early Childhood Standards and Key Elements
• Excellent communication skills
• A team player, dedicated to doing what it takes to support your team members and get the job done.
  

Position Details:

• Title: Early Childhood Director
• Reports to: Superintendent
• Compensation: $55,000 ? $62,000 annually
• Calendar: 190 days per school year
