Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including an Associate and Mid-Level Durability and Damage Tolerance Engineers to join the BGS C-17 team located in Long Beach, CA. The C-17 is a military transport airplane unlike any other. It is a high performance, short takeoff and landing aircraft, providing key mobility support to the United States and other nations. It will provide this role for many decades to come. The C-17 Structures team provides a wide variety of engineering products to maintain operational readiness now and in the future. Qualified applicants will provide support for a wide variety of tasks, including: Fleet management activity under the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program, life assessment monitoring and evaluation, reviewing inspection data, providing requirements for maintenance changes, analysis of repairs and modifications, and providing the contractually required reports and briefings to the C-17 customers. Position Responsibilities:
  • Work with other C-17 Durability and Damage Tolerance (D&DT) Analysts to become familiar with C-17 Tools, Processes, and Documentation requirements.
  • Analyze repairs and modifications to the C-17 aircraft utilizing FEM and other computer and hand methods.
  • Participate in providing the contractually required reports and briefings.
  • Performs structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under general supervision.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. Hybrid: This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options (Long Beach, CA). This is at the hiring team\xe2\x80\x99s discretion and could potentially change in the future. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor\'s degree or higher in an Engineering field.
  • 1+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  • 1+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools.
  • 1+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in structural analysis.
  • Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.
  • Experience independently constructing, executing, reviewing, and managing structural finite element models.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working with structural sizing, and finite element models/simulations using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, etc.
Typical Education & Experience: Associate- Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Mid-Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years\' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense (Long Beach, CA).
