Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting clients in their daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve through personalized care and support.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide patient care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or in-home care. Monitor and document client health status, including vital signs and any changes in behavior or condition. Implement care plans tailored to individual needs and preferences while ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and personal growth. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed. Support clients with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines. Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.

Requirements

Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in caregiving roles such as home health, hospice care, or long-term care is preferred. Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and patient monitoring techniques is highly desirable. Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges. A compassionate approach to caregiving that prioritizes client dignity and respect. Understanding of social work principles related to client advocacy and support services is beneficial.
