DSHS DDA Yakima Valley School Dietitian

, part of , is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our team of professionals who provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday with holidays off.

At YVS, our direct care and support staff provide 24-hour nursing care, a full spectrum of clinical and therapeutic programs, and recreation/activities to empower our clients. You will personally empower our clients through performing professional level Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) which includes nutritional assessments, nutrition counseling, development of therapeutic plans and nutrition education. This is an ideal job for someone who is seeking to work directly with clients in a unique setting. This is an opportunity to utilize multiple nutritional skills and provide strong communication and collaboration to successfully help us transform lives.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you will do:

  • Perform professional nutritional assessments, education, and MNT and/or instructs others in professional, administrative, or dietetic services in an institutional setting
  • Participates with teams to carry out projects and plans that improve care in the client population served
  • Assess, design intervention, and monitor nutritional progress and goals for the population served
  • Formulate therapeutic diets and nutrition support plans to meet the needs of clinical pathologies, including diabetes, obesity, renal dysfunction, cardiovascular needs, gastroenterological, oncological, phenylketonuria, citrullinemia, metabolic support and nutrition support services
  • Consult with and serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide optimal care for the residents
  • Participate in the quality assurance process, focusing on evaluation of foods served for compliance with policies and standards as related to food safety, therapeutic goals, and texture/consistency attributes
  • Interpret research findings and incorporate them into nutritional therapy programs and recommendations
  • Maintain relevant electronic records
  • Develop, evaluate, and utilize food service computer systems
Who should apply:
Bachelor\'s Degree OR Master\'s Degree in Nutrition or nutrition-related field and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian or eligible for registration at the time of hire and pass the registration examination within one year of date of hire. Dietitian experience is preferred.
