The Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration\'s (FFA) Maintenance Operations Division (MOD) is looking for an on-call Truck Driver 2 to join our team in Steilacoom, WA..

Please Note: You will be required to take a Ferry to and from work each day (to get to the island). SCC employees receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees. Truck Driver 2\'s also receives 10% higher pay for 6 hours every day because of assignment pay. Evening and Night shift positions include a $2.50 shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Staff at the SCC receive 5% premium pay for working at a 24-hour facility. You also receive a free ORCA card for personal transportation use.
Some of what you will do:

  • Drive and operate medium to large trucks, buses, and special vehicles that are up to 60,000 GVW to; Transport passengers, and load/unload equipment.
  • Operation of vehicles such as trash/recycle trucks, street sweepers, forklifts, fleet cars, and seasonal snow equipment is also possible.
  • You will also load, unload, and transport freight, mail, and other packages by hand and use of liftgate, forklift, pallet jack, and hand dolly.
  • Pick-up and drop-off; Food items, materials, supplies, and US mail
  • Dispose of solid waste and debris using machinery
  • Operate all CDL Class B-rated equipment as needed to maintain the MOD/SCC
  • Load/Unload SCC laundry, and transport to and from Western State Hospital Laundry
  • Shred confidential/non-confidential documents and maintain records.
  • Operate vehicles in a capacity of 30 or more passengers, including driver.
  • Perform pre/post-trip inspections on all equipment operated.
  • Clean exterior and interior of vehicles, including vacuuming.
  • Operate and prepare equipment for snow/ice removal.
  • Housekeeping of shop area, work area, breakroom, and restroom areas
What we are looking for:
  • Experience working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate heavy trucks and buses in a safe and skillful manner.
  • Knowledge of state motor vehicle laws with the safe operation of equipment
  • Ability to be flexible to work hours changing.
  • Experience working around noisy machines and potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Skilled at taking instructions that are verbal and written.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements for this job.
Who should apply?
Applicants with the following:
  • One year of experience in the operation of CDL vehicles of 18,000 GVRW or more or at least one year of experience transporting passengers, operating forklifts, and/or various other vehicles/equipment
  • A valid CDL B (Or higher) driver\'s license free from serious traffic violations
  • A P1 Passenger Endorsement required
