This role is responsible for performing regulated drug and alcohol testing, preparing employees for medical examinations, and ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to DOT and WMATA testing procedures. The position upholds the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and patient care in all medical and testing functions.
Responsibilities
Maintain
confidentiality
of all medical and testing files, employee records, and related data.
Prepare applicants and employees for
medical evaluations and diagnostic procedures
, including venipuncture, vision and hearing exams, pulmonary function tests (spirometry), EKGs, X-rays, and stress tests.
Conduct
regulated drug and alcohol testing
in compliance with
DOT and WMATA regulations
, ensuring all samples and documentation meet chain-of-custody standards.
Inspect and verify
alcohol and drug testing equipment
for cleanliness, functionality, and compliance before each use.
Ensure
testing areas and examination rooms
are properly stocked, sanitized, and maintained at all times.
Maintain and apply
Level D BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) certification
requirements in daily testing procedures.
Accurately complete and file regulatory documentation, reports, and incident logs.
Coordinate with medical and compliance staff to ensure full adherence to safety and health protocols.
Support periodic compliance audits and contribute to continuous improvement of testing procedures and facility readiness.
Requirements
Applied Science Degree from a
CAAHEP-accredited program
, or
Associate's Degree in
Allied Health Sciences
, or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
Experience:
Minimum of
3 years of experience
in a hospital or medical testing environment; alternatively,
5 years as a medical technician
in a clinical or occupational health setting with demonstrated testing expertise.
Active Level D Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) certification required.
Additional medical or laboratory technician certifications preferred.
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, testing protocols, and medical documentation systems.
Knowledge of
DOT 49 CFR Part 40
and WMATA drug and alcohol testing regulations.
Residency:
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to
Washington D.C.
(on-site position).
