Designed with special needs in mind, Connecticut Transportation Solutions, LLC (CTS) serves all territories throughout Connecticut. CTS is headquartered in Waterbury and has an office in Trumbull. Our drivers and aides are always friendly, courteous and are focused on making the transportation experience safe for all. We specialize in all aspects of transporting behaviorally challenged children and adults. Our staff is trained in abuse / neglect prevention and reporting, basic first aid, CPR, and only the safest driving methods.
Job Summary:
Aides for Connecticut Transportation Solutions will have the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of children and other individuals during transportation to and from various locations throughout the state. Aides should have strong communication and organizational qualities. The aide should work well independently as well as on a team that includes drivers, management, parents and school staff. It is the role of the driver's aide to ensure all students are in appropriate safety restraints. Aides' further responsibilities include maintaining Incident reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Get to know your student. Engage them in conversation or an activity that's appropriate during transport
Be seated in close proximity of the student so you can monitor and assist the student at all times.
Maintain professional behavior and a constant line of communication with students, drivers, managers, school staff and parents
Follows and ensures mandated child restraint devise procedures, ensuring children are properly positioned and restrained.
Advises students of appropriate behavior for the purpose of reinforcing established guidelines and maintaining passenger safety
Exhibits empathy and understanding of special needs students
Responsible for attending all mandatory training sessions as directed by supervisors
Communicate road conditions, incidents, accidents and/or emergency situations
Operates wheelchair lift, harness and other special equipment necessary for the health and safety of students
High School Diploma or GED
Successful experience working with students or individuals with special needs preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from parents, school staff and managers
Must be physically able to step up and down steps, safely secure clients for transport,
(car seats, booster seats, seat belts, wheelchair and harnesses)
Maintain a positive and professional attitude under stressful situations
