The Homestead at Rochester is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

$15.94 - $18.86 per hour based on years of experience.
Shift: Monday-Friday and occasional weekends
About the job:
The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of participants.
Essentials:
1. Responsible for passengers during transport, providing care in a manner which ensures participant satisfaction.
2. Follows assigned schedule, makes adjustments to meet unanticipated changes, while considering the needs of the participant and requirements of the Community. Communicates these changes to dispatch.
3. Operates equipment safely and in compliance with vehicle licensing regulations.
4. Maintains and completes daily required records i.e., Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections, gasoline purchases.
5. Immediately reports to Transportation Manager, any vehicle or cell phone operating problems, malfunction, or incidents out of the ordinary routine.
6. Transports participants to and from medical/specialist appointments, and activity outings, as requested by the Interdisciplinary Team via the plan of care.
7. Transports meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other items as deemed necessary for participant.
8. Provides physical assistance to each participant when needed as he/she boards and debarks from the program's vehicles.
9. Maintains the vehicle in a neat and clean condition. Ability to use automated car wash.
10. Ensures vehicle equipment is maintained and operating within manufactures recommendations, replacing supplies as needed.
11. Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team when appropriate.
12. Communicates with Transportation Manager daily to be updated on participant conditions/ changes, plan of care changes, or Interdisciplinary Team requests.
13. Performs other duties as required or requested.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
If operating company vehicle you must be twenty-one (21) years of age, meet the MVR organization standards, have a valid Minessota drivers license, and ability to obtain CDL license within six (6) months of hire required.
Preferred Skills:
Able to read and understand maps and routing information.
Able to handle information in a confidential manner at all times.
Able to deal professionally and diplomatically with people.
Must be flexible, and able to function in stressful situations.
Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.
Requires individual who can coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, caregivers,
and co-workers. Proficient in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Common sense problem-solving.
Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in servicing and documentation.
