Job Responsibilities

The South Carolina Commission for the Blind helps blind or visually impaired residents of South Carolina gain independence and identify their strengths, abilities, skills, and resources to obtain employment. The commission provides adjustment-to-blindness training and job-placement services for thousands of South Carolinians each year.

South Carolina Commission for the Blind drivers transport consumers in a safe and timely manner to and from their primary residence to attend agency sponsored trainings, appointments and organized recreational activities.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Agency requirement: possess and maintains a valid South Carolina driver\'s license. Knowledge of safety practice of state laws pertaining to the operation of equipment upon state highways.

Additional Comments

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written and keep accurate documentation. This person must be able to work as part of a team and apply reasonable, sound judgement in all situations. Exhibits courtesy and professionalism toward others at all times.

Under limited supervision, employee maintains the principles, practices and policies of the S.C. Commission for the Blind. Regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs.
