The driver's responsibilities include the safe transportation of students within Manchester and the surrounding communities to and from school or school sponsored activity. Hours could be 6am-8am or 4pm-7pm Monday- Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

:

Responsible for transporting students to and from school or school sponsored activity, following a preplanned route according to a definite time schedule. Drives van/bus (14 passenger) carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations. Instructs students in safety precautions and practices. Maintains discipline; reports student unruly behavior to his or her supervisor. Regulates heating equipment and ventilation of bus for comfort of students. Check the condition of vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order. Reports delays and accidents in accordance with School policies. Reports defects or problems with the bus to his or her supervisor. Keeps bus interiors clean for passengers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations. Ability to operate a bus in a safe and economical manner. Ability to relate to students, parents and school system personnel. Ability to complete various forms and records including timesheets, accident reports, etc. Ability to read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.

Requirements:

New Hampshire Drivers License, Passenger & School Bus Endorsement Excellent, Clean Driving Record

Physical and psychological demands:

Must have the ability to respond quickly to signals (lights, sounds, signs) while driving. Must have the ability to adjust his or her reaction in relation to others' actions (i.e. defensive driving). Multi-limb coordination - the have the ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, the foot pushes on brake, the hands direct the steering wheel). Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time (minimum: 1 hour). Must be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks (i.e. listening and driving) and be capable of consistently functioning well in a fast-paced environment. Must have a strong commitment to and ability to execute superior customer service. Must be able to accept feedback and direction in a professional manner. Must exhibit the following qualities to be a successful team player: Trustworthiness through behavior and consistent work results. Trust and support of other team members, superiors, and Derryfield employees. Ability to communicate timely and in a professional manner to address conflicts.
