Job Summary
The Drain Technician is responsible for diagnosing, clearing, repairing, and maintaining residential and light commercial drainage and sewer systems. This position requires hands-on experience with drain cleaning equipment, sewer camera inspections, and clear communication with customers while maintaining safety and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform drain cleaning services on kitchen, bathroom, floor, and main sewer lines
Operate drain cleaning equipment including cable machines, jetters, and sewer cameras
Diagnose blockages, bellies, breaks, and root intrusions using inspection tools
Clearly explain findings, options, and recommendations to customers
Perform minor drain and sewer repairs as needed
Maintain clean, organized job sites and protect customer property
Follow all safety procedures, plumbing codes, and company policies
Accurately document work performed, job notes, and recommendations
Upsell preventative maintenance and long-term repair solutions when appropriate
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
Required Qualifications
1-3 years of drain cleaning or plumbing experience preferred
Working knowledge of residential and light commercial drainage systems
Ability to operate cable machines, jetters, and camera equipment
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
Plumbing apprentice or journeyman experience
Experience with trenchless sewer repair or pipe replacement
Service or sales-based plumbing background
Knowledge of local plumbing codes
Physical Requirements
Frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and working in tight spaces
Exposure to wastewater, odors, and outdoor conditions
Availability for on-call or overtime work as needed
