Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, clipping, and styling tailored to each dog's breed and individual needs. Safely handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and staff. Assess each pet's health and behavior to identify any signs of illness or discomfort; communicate findings with pet owners or veterinary professionals as needed. Maintain a clean and sanitary grooming area by regularly sanitizing tools, equipment, and workspaces in compliance with health standards. Provide exceptional customer service by advising pet owners on grooming options, aftercare instructions, and breed-specific grooming tips. Assist with pet handling during appointments, ensuring animals are comfortable and stress-free throughout the grooming process. Support additional animal care duties such as pet sitting or kennel assistance when required to ensure the well-being of all animals in our facility. Engage in ongoing training related to dog training techniques, veterinary procedures, or specialized animal handling to enhance your skill set. Heavy lifting may be required when handling larger dogs or transporting animals within the facility.

Skills

Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of breed standards and grooming techniques. Knowledge of animal handling practices that prioritize safety and comfort for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Background in veterinary experience or veterinary technician/assistant roles is highly desirable for understanding health indicators and proper restraint methods. Familiarity with dog training principles to better manage behavioral challenges during grooming sessions. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners. Experience working with animals in kennel environments or pet sitting roles demonstrates reliability and compassion. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary for larger animals or equipment transport. Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness standards for tools, workspaces, and overall hygiene.
