Responsibilities

Supervise dogs during daycare activities, ensuring safe play and socialization among pets of various sizes and temperaments Monitor dog behavior closely to prevent conflicts or injuries, utilizing animal handling and restraint techniques when necessary Assist with basic pet grooming tasks such as brushing or cleaning to keep animals comfortable and healthy Engage dogs in stimulating activities that promote mental and physical well-being, including training exercises if appropriate Maintain cleanliness of the facility by cleaning kennels, play areas, and equipment regularly to uphold hygiene standards Observe and record each dog's health status, behavior changes, or any signs of distress to communicate with veterinary staff or pet owners as needed Handle heavy lifting when necessary for moving supplies or cleaning equipment safely

Skills

Proven experience in dog handling, training, or pet care roles such as veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is highly valued Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and animal behavior management to ensure safety for pets and staff Strong background in pet grooming, pet sitting, or kennel experience that demonstrates your ability to care for animals comprehensively Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and address their questions or concerns confidently Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics Familiarity with veterinary procedures or veterinary experience can enhance your ability to recognize health issues early Animal handling skills combined with patience, empathy, and a positive attitude to create a welcoming environment for all pets Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and the energetic pace of a busy daycare setting
