Dock Worker
Job Description
Summary:
Dock Workers are shipping and receiving personnel for the newspaper distribution operation of the Circulation department. They work with employees and contractors in an effort to receive bundles of newspapers and assist with distributing them to delivery personnel.
What you will do:
Receive and unload pallets of newspaper bundles from our printing vendor
Distribute newspaper bundles to individual bundle haulers
Prepare paperwork for each day\xe2\x80\x99s distribution
Break down and organize carrier paperwork to facilitate distribution of product to independent contractors
Ensure the amount of product distributed to independent contractors is accurate according paperwork
Maintain a clean mailroom and dock area
Performs other duties as assigned
What you will bring:
Able to read and interpret shipping and receiving documents in English
Organization skills for organizing newspaper bundles coming in and out of the warehouse each day
Time management skills as needed to help ensure newspaper deadlines are met
Ability to lift and move newspaper bundles by hand of up to 30 pounds
Willing and able to use a pallet jack
High School Diploma or equivalent required
At least one year of work experience in a warehouse, loading dock or materials handling required
Experience in a newspaper operation helpful but not required
