Duties

Coordinate dispatching activities by assigning freight loads to drivers and carriers using transportation management systems Monitor real-time vehicle locations via GPS and GIS technologies to ensure on-time deliveries and efficient routing. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and clients through multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring accurate data entry into AS400 or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Utilize analysis skills to optimize routes, reduce transit times, and improve overall fleet efficiency within transportation planning frameworks. Oversee freight movement by coordinating with 3PL providers (third-party logistics), ensuring compliance with shipping regulations, and managing logistics documentation. Conduct regular data entry related to dispatching activities, tracking shipments, and updating transportation management systems. Maintain detailed records of dispatch logs, incident reports, inbound/outbound shipments, and yard audits for compliance and operational insights. Support fleet management by tracking vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinating repairs as needed. Demonstrate excellent communication skills by providing clear instructions to drivers and responding promptly to inquiries or issues that arise during transit.

Experience

Proven experience in dispatching within a transportation or logistics environment is highly preferred. Familiarity with GIS, GPS tracking systems, transportation management software (such as Oracle Transportation Management), SyteLine, AS400, and other ERP platforms is advantageous. Strong analysis skills for route optimization, freight planning, and supply chain coordination. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with freight regulations and compliance standards. Excellent typing skills for efficient data entry along with experience managing multi-line phone systems in a fast-paced setting. Understanding of fleet management principles including vehicle tracking, maintenance scheduling, and driver scheduling. Ability to demonstrate professionalism through effective communication skills and proper phone etiquette in all interactions. Experience working with 3PL providers or in logistics coordination roles enhances your suitability for this position. Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per hour
