Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for setting the strategic direction for Women & Children\xe2\x80\x99s, inclusive of Portsmouth Regional Hospital to improve patient outcomes and grow market share in the Women & Children\xe2\x80\x99s service line. Ensure the financial viability of women & children\xe2\x80\x99s initiatives. Establish collaborative relationships with various departments and managers across the organizations. Design, plan, and implement programs that promote the mission to improve the health of the communities served. Provide clinical administration and leadership for departments that report to the service line director.

Women & Children\xe2\x80\x99s includes the following services: Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, Nursery, Level 2 NICU, Pediatrics and Women\xe2\x80\x99s Health/Surgical.

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leadership and Management:
  • Responsible for all aspects of department\xe2\x80\x99s operations including program goals, maintaining records, and data submission to designated agencies and departments.
  • Supervises staff and ensures competency, personnel management functions within the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Monitors and ensures service line quality (eg. Clinical outcomes, credentialing/privileging processes, services and patient satisfaction).
Operations and Finance:

\xc2\xb7 Develops and maintains a budget for supervising departments.

\xc2\xb7 Oversee current program for continued success.

\xc2\xb7 Establish benchmark metrics focusing on quality, volume, market share, and profitable financial performances.

\xc2\xb7 Reviews performance data regularly with facility executives, including CMO, COO, VP Quality & Risk, VP Operations, CNO and others as requested.

\xc2\xb7 Ensures program policies and practices meet all current applicable regulatory requirements which includes obtaining and maintaining State, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, etc.

Strategic Planning and Business Development:
  • Develops and implements a women and children\xe2\x80\x99s service line business plan, driving quality outcomes and processes while improving profitability of the women and children\xe2\x80\x99s service line.
  • Responsible for program development and growth, including planning, implementation and assessment of strategic plan to improve quality, and viability of services.
Physician Relations:
  • Build long-term relationships with physicians, affiliated, integrated and/or employed.
  • Facilitates discussion/forums with physicians and other stakeholders to identify best practices, share knowledge, and operationalize program improvements.
  • Assists CMO in discussions/forums with physicians for individual quality outcomes.
  • Assists CNOs in discussions/forums with Nursing Staff and other Direct Care Staff regarding quality performance within the women and children\xe2\x80\x99s service line, identify best practices, share knowledge and operationalize program improvements.
In addition to the standard role of a Program Director:
  • Direct reports include WC Services Facility Director and Manager, in collaboration with the facility executive team
  • Supports and provides professional development for performance excellence.
  • Provides coaching, and performance counseling/discipline as needed
  • Supports and participates in the interview and selection of key management team.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Services leadership to address and ensure clinical quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Manages multiple indirect reporting relationships to multi-facility executive teams relating to:
  • Business planning and services development
  • Budgeting and operations ownership
  • Medical staff relations
  • Volume growth
  • Managed care
  • Actively participates in facility leadership activities and initiatives, including community projects and involvement including but not limited to education regarding the health of women and children.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs all duties ethically, complying with all policies and procedures, Federal, State, and local law.
  • Other duties as assigned
What qualifications you will need:
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing a clinical specialty or product line in an acute care setting requires. 5+ years of clinical experience in women & children\xe2\x80\x99s required.
  • Success in roles requiring close monitoring of productivity metrics and active performance management.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and flexibility in working with administrators, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and improve disease-specific programs.
  • Strong critical thinking, business planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
