Key Responsibilities:

Director of Systems Fleet Engineering is responsible to manage a team of engineers with primary focus on safety, regulatory mandates, reliability, and fleet health and supervise a large scope of engineering systems which include hydraulics, flight controls, landing gears, tires, brakes, landing gear, pneumatic to identify just a few of the critical areas of focus for the team. In addition, the director is responsible for development of transformational scope for the team and providing specialized service, project and technical support for the operation, performance, modification, and repair of all aircraft components. Focused attention on aircraft reliability will be a critical component of the team
  • The Systems Director provides technical engineering services and expert recommendations
  • Trouble-shooting support to other departments and personnel involved with aircraft systems
  • Monitors aircraft performance to provide continuous improvement and to initiate pro-active actions to support line operation
  • Evaluate the benefits of the cost impact of a fleet decision to ensure an optimum balance of cost, asset utilization, quality, and reliability
  • Participates in Senior leader meeting where they provide reports and presentations on the trends and performance of an assigned fleet
  • Represents the company to the FAA, NTSB, ATA, ARINC and other external and internal organizations regarding specific aircraft related issues
  • Develop high level organization goals for the team that will focus on metrics that will drive measurable change to reliability within systems ATAs
  • Extensive weekly reviews at Weekly Reliability
  • Meetings where team is speaking publicly on top fleet drivers in the reliability areas
  • Coordinate work extensively with other operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Provide system wide technical proficiency in the systems areas for the airline to maintain high levels of performance
  • Guides the development of sophisticated designs and implementation plans and project justification
  • Acquire funding approval, management of project implementation, technical support, and FAA approvals as required through knowledge of United ODA process
  • Extensive mentor-ship and team development of leads and principal team members to grow talent and technical proficiency within the team
  • Will need to grow and develop team to better deliver on goals

Qualifications


What\xe2\x80\x99s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor\'s degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering) or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 10+ years engineering experience
  • 5+ years developing a team in a technical area, or equivalent type project management role at a high engineering level
  • Extensive knowledge of FARs, airworthiness design and substantiation criteria, aircraft and equipment design and operational characteristics, aircraft materials and processes
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
  • This role follows a hybrid scheduling model
