Job Description

:
As part of Retail Department, the Director - Sport and Merchandise Planning will be responsible for the purchasing and management of product for the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club Retail Department, which maintains store locations in Milwaukee, Arizona and North Carolina.
Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze and forecast sales and profitability numbers to continually refine product mix, control expenses, manage Open to Buy and ultimately achieve organizational retail goals
• Create a merchandise assortment plan and work with MLB & Milb Licensees to select assortment of licensed product to be sold for the Milwaukee Brewers and Wilson Warbirds
• Create store layouts and product vendor placement for all stadium locations in Milwaukee WI, Phoenix AZ, and Wilson NC
• Negotiate with MLB & Milb Licensees to ensure cost and retail targets are achieved for specific MLB & Milb Licensed products
• Oversee Spring Training and Minor League retail merchandise buys, store set up and inventory management
• Work with ownership and other departments in the organization to coordinate, purchase and create unique items for Brewers front office needs including ownership/investor events, game day staff uniforms, sponsor/SSH/Suite Holder gifts, Brewers Community Foundation items and other product projects as deemed relevant
• Purchase and fulfill Brewers front office product needs
• Travel to MLB & Milb Retail Shows/Seminars/Summits
• Assists the Senior Director- Merchandise and Retail Operations with projects that will better improve the retail department for the organization

The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in retail buying and forecasting at a management level. Sports retail purchasing is preferred. The ideal candidate should also have:

• Ability to motivate and manage staff of all levels.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to direct the activities of staff and plan ahead
• Ability to problem solve and think outside the box. React to issues in a constructive manner and be a proactive planner
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced math skills; proficient in MS Excel and retail POS/Inventory systems
