South Dakota State's Technology and Security Office is growing! We're hiring a new Director of Technology Contracts that will play a key role in shaping how the University engages with technology vendors and internal stakeholders. This leadership position supports the academic and research mission by guiding technology contract strategy, ensuring compliance, and fostering collaboration across campus. With signing authority and oversight of software licensing, the role contributes to building a strong foundation for future technology contracting processes. This position is located in
Brookings, South Dakota
and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The Division of Technology & Security (DTS) supports the University's mission as a high-achieving land-grant institution by overseeing both technology services and campus safety. DTS manages digital and physical security, including law enforcement coordination, and regulatory compliance. Its reach extends across the state, providing IT and safety support to Research Stations and Extension Centers, ensuring secure and reliable operations wherever the University's work takes place.

KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead contract development, negotiation, and compliance for technology agreements.
Collaborate with vendors, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to ensure sound, secure contracts.
Oversee vendor selection, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure ADA and IT security compliance in software agreements.
Supervise the Software Licensing Specialist and support team development.
Maintain clear documentation and promote process efficiency across the organization.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in technology or other relevant field with a minimum of five years progressively responsible information technology experience
Ability to identify, negotiate with, and manage relationships with software and hardware vendors.
Ability to identify opportunities that focus on cost reductions, efficiencies, quality improvements, risk mitigation, supply trends and shifts in technology.
Detail oriented with the ability to analyze complex contractual documents and legal language.
Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of information systems, technology, and equipment.
Knowledge of state and agency/institution purchasing laws, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of specifications and contracts.
