Summary of Position:




The Director of Surveillance manages all operations of the Surveillance Department to protect the assets, integrity, and safety of the Kootenai River Inn Casino & Spa. This position oversees observation, recording, and reporting of gaming activities in compliance with tribal and federal laws and procedures. The Director ensures the effectiveness of surveillance systems, staff performance, and investigative procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:




Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a comprehensive background check. High School Diploma or GED required; additional training or certification in gaming surveillance or security preferred. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in gaming surveillance or equivalent security operations, with at least one year in a supervisory role. Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office and video management software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills. Ability to maintain focus and attention for extended periods and handle confidential information appropriately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




Leadership and Management




Supervise all Surveillance Department personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and discipline. Ensure coverage for all operational hours and special events. Foster a professional, cooperative, and compliant work environment. Maintain clear communication with the General Manager, Tribal Gaming Compliance Officer, and other departments.

Operational Oversight




Oversee daily surveillance monitoring of facility. Ensure compliance with Tribal and NIGC regulations and policies and the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS). Monitor and maintain all surveillance equipment and systems, ensuring timely repair and replacement. Review and approve surveillance reports, incident documentation, and video evidence handling. Conduct or assist in investigations involving theft, fraud, or policy violations. Ensure accurate and complete logs and records of surveillance activities. Coordinate with law enforcement and regulatory agencies as authorized.

Training and Compliance




Develop and implement staff training in surveillance operations, emergency response, and reporting procedures. Keep current with regulatory requirements and technological developments in surveillance and gaming security. Conduct periodic reviews and internal audits of surveillance procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness.

Working Conditions:




High-attention environment requiring focus for extended periods. May involve irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Exposure to confidential and sensitive information requiring discretion.

Typical Physical Demands




Prolonged periods of sitting while monitoring surveillance equipment. Occasional walking or standing to inspect surveillance area, equipment and the property. Ability to hear normal conversations, radio communications, and audible alarms or alerts. Requires manual dexterity to operate computer, video controls and recording equipment/ * Must have close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for extended periods while viewing video monitors and live feeds.
