Accountable for the day-to-day management of the activities of the Therapy Department to assure proper utilization of available resources and continuous quality improvement. Responsible for the development of the Rehab Department and coordinating the integration with other therapies.
Responsibilities:
Direct the rehabilitation staff in the evaluation and treatment of patients.
Develop, motivate and complete performance evaluations of subordinates to ensure a high degree of quality and efficient use of resources, human and material. Directly responsible for providing an excellent learning atmosphere for staff, including clinical education programs for professional programs to enhance recruitment and retention.
Responsible for the orientation of new employees, including policy and procedure as it pertains to the department and relates to the facility.
Assist in the establishment of the department's operating and capital budgets to assure adequate resources for professional development and departmental enhancement.
Effective and efficient utilization maintaining high standards of quality.
Recruitment and retention of high-quality personnel consistent with job requirements.
Self-initiating with a high emphasis on visibility and availability for staff.
Responsible for the departments quality improvement program.
Interview, select, promote and counsel departmental personnel in conjunction with the Company Policy and Procedures MaJmal.
Internet with patients and family members as appropriate. Maintain patient/guest relations consistent with Company policy.
Assist with departmental efforts for marketing in areas of interest.
Attend and participate in scheduled in-service programs and staff meetings.
Maintain confidentiality of necessary information.
Utilize supplies and equipment properly and without waste.
Think and act calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the job without being thrown off stride.
Perform any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
Follow established infection control precautions, adhering to Universal Blood and Body Fluid precautions, following policy and center specific infection control policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
Credentialed graduate of an accredited physical, occupational or speech therapy program with an associate or master's degree, and licensed in the state where practicing.
Three years minimum clinical experience as a practicing therapist with previous management/supervisory experience required.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Less than 10% travel to local area facilities.
Ability to work inside with exposure to some disagreeable conditions.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, PT, OT, ST, restorative staff facility staff in general.
