Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to oversee all operational aspects of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center. This pivotal role will ensure that our venue operates smoothly and efficiently while enhancing the overall guest experience. Located in Biloxi, MS, this position is integral to our mission of delivering exceptional events.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all operational functions of the facility to ensure optimal performance.
Supervise and provide direction to the operations staff; manage labor calls, identify training needs, and recommend departmental policy and personnel changes.
Plan, assign, and inspect daily work activities, ensuring all operations are compliant with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
Coordinate and monitor work orders; estimate material needs, request purchases, and manage equipment inventory.
Effectively schedule staff and resources to support concurrent event setups, conversions, and tear-downs with limited turnaround time.
Assist with physical event setups including staging, tables, chairs, and other infrastructure. Ensure accuracy of event diagrams and layouts prior to client arrival.
Review and approve employee timecards in compliance with Commission policies.
Oversee facility custodial work including scrubbing, stripping, sanitizing, waxing, and buffing floors; cleaning walls, windows, fixtures, and more.
Oversee project management initiatives related to venue operations and event execution.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to maximize value.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align operational goals with overall business objectives.
Foster a culture of leadership and teamwork among staff members.
Requirements
Proven experience in operations management, preferably in event venues or similar environments.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams effectively.
Excellent project management abilities with attention to detail.
Demonstrated experience in business development and strategic planning.
