The Director of Nursing oversees the clinical nursing staff and overall nursing operations. Duties include evaluating and directing all nursing staff, establishing goals and objectives and creating and enforcing compliant healthcare policies.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the clinical department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the home healthcare industry.
Develops, maintains, and periodically updates written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the clinical department.
Evaluates department process making recommendations and implementing compliance and quality improvement policies, programs and procedures.
Leads by example, working alongside staff members and treating them kindly and professionally at all times and in all circumstances.
Ensures all clinical/nursing personnel comply with established standards, practices and regulatory requirements.
Maintains and improves as needed the quality of patient care and standards of care.
Interviews, hires, trains and manages employees.
Plans, assigns, and directs work, conducts reviews, delivering discipline and or rewards as appropriate.
Addresses patient, family and employee complaints, documenting issues, solutions and resolving problems.
Coordinates care services, and the implementation of care plans ensuring the best quality of life possible and for all patients.
Conducts quality assessments including regulatory compliance rounds, to monitor performance and continuously improve systems, processes and quality.
Develops staffing plans that assure direct care needs are met, recommending quantity and types of personnel necessary to maintain compliance with all requirements.
Maintains reference database or other training materials (i.e., Axxess et al.) to assist the department in understanding compliance requirements and empowering them to meeting the day-to-day needs of the patients.
Works closely with QA to Audit clinical records for accuracy and completeness of comprehensive patient assessments, effective documentation reflecting patient responses to interventions and consistent implementation of plans of care by all staff.
Leads/Participates in various company meetings and interdisciplinary conferences as needed to develop adequate plans of care.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years related experience required. At least three to five years of experience in health care/home care, preferred.
At least two years experience in a supervisory position, preferred.
Current registered nurse credentials or certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
