The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a nursing home or home health setting. This position requires a dedicated professional with extensive knowledge of nursing practices, resident rights, and regulatory compliance. The DON will be responsible for developing care plans, managing nursing operations, and fostering an environment that promotes the well-being of both residents and staff.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of nursing services in accordance with established policies and regulations.
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
Conduct regular documentation reviews to ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and address resident needs.
Ensure adherence to resident rights and promote a culture of respect and dignity within the facility.
Manage staffing levels effectively to meet patient care requirements while maintaining budgetary constraints.
Provide leadership in quality improvement initiatives related to nursing practices and patient safety.
Stay updated on best practices in hospice care, home health, and other relevant areas of nursing.
